RICHARD MARGISON CVAI’S NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Montreal, Tuesday, October 20th, 2020 – The board of the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute is happy to announce the nomination of renowned Canadian tenor Richard Margison as artistic director. He succeeds Joshua Major, interim artistic director in 2020, and Joan Dornemann and Paul Nadler, cofounders of CVAI, who assumed this position since its inception in 2004. Mr. Margison will assume his duties on November 1st.
COVID-19 – Cancellation of the 2020 Canadian Vocal Arts Institute and the Vocal Arts Festival
Montréal, April 16, 2020 – Due to the current situation in relation to COVID-19, it is with regret that the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute is forced to cancel the 2020 edition, scheduled for presentation from July 20 to August 7, 2020. Given the current context and in compliance with the public health instructions issued by the Quebec government and our partner the University of Montréal, this difficult decision was nonetheless necessary for the safety of one and all.
AUDITIONS FOR THE CANADIAN VOCAL ARTS INSTITUTE
Montreal, September 25, 2019 – The Canadian Vocal Arts Institute summer program is held in Montréal, Canada, from July 20 to August 7 2020, at the Music Faculty of Université de Montréal. ICAV 2020 vocal program, is directed by New England Conservatory Chair of Opera Studies, Director Joshua Major. Born in Toronto, Mr. Major has worked as a stage director for nearly 30 years throughout the Unites States and Canada, developing an impressively diverse repertoire of productions. He will continue to be a stage director for the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute, whom he has directed annually since 2004.
CONDUCTOR DAVID ROSENMEYER TO REPLACE MAESTRO PAUL NADLER
Montreal, Monday, JULY 15, 2019 – It is with great regrets that the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute announces that Paul Nadler, coartistic director and conductor, has to cancel his presence due to health issues. We wish him a full and speedy recovery. We are thankful to him for referring David Rosenmeyer, associate conductor of the Oratorio Society of New York, to replace him. He is well accustomed with CVAI, having been a faculty member for many editions. Maestro Rosenmeyer will conduct ICAV’s Opera La Bohème by Ruggero Leoncavallo.

Montreal, Monday, May 27, 2019 – The 16th edition of the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute and Montreal Vocal Arts Festival will take place from July 22 to August 9, 2019. Some 50 most talented young singers from 12 countries will perfect their craft under the tutelage of world renowned teachers.
