The Canadian Vocal Arts Institute summer program is held in Montréal, Canada, from July 20 to August 7 2020, at the Music Faculty of Université de Montréal. ICAV 2020 vocal program, is directed by New England Conservatory Chair of Opera Studies, Director Joshua Major. Born in Toronto, Mr. Major has worked as a stage director for nearly 30 years throughout the Unites States and Canada, developing an impressively diverse repertoire of productions. He will continue to be a stage director for the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute, whom he has directed annually since 2004.
The Canadian Vocal Arts Institute is a three-week intensive program providing private voice lessons, private coaching, and training in vocal technique, dramatic presentation, acting, language and diction, as well as opportunities to sing in masterclasses or one of the 10 public performances including a fully staged opera (to be announced in January 2020) and a Gala concert. This program is open to singers in all stages of development and will be tailored to their individual needs.
All participants will take part in:
- Public audition on the first day
- Private voice lessons
- Private coaching
- Operatic repertoire coaching
- Language coaching
- Acting lessons, movement, stage craft
- Recital and opera scenes performances
- Opportunity to sing in masterclasses, recitals, concert, fully-staged opera.
